The Dino-Killing Asteroid: A Possible One-Two Punch
Around the same time Chicxulub marked the end of the Age of Dinosaurs, a second smaller asteroid also crashed into Earth.

Scientists now say that's almost precisely what happened to the dinosaurs, on a much bigger scale: the asteroid that hit Chicxulub, Mexico, is still credited with killing the dinosaurs. However, a second asteroid hit during that same era at the Nadir crater off the coast of Guinea in western Africa,
After 66 million years, scientists discover there wasn’t just one asteroid which killed the dinosaurs
A six-mile-long asteroid, which struck Earth 66 million years ago, wiped out the dinosaurs and more than half of all life on Earth. The impact left a 124-mile-wide crater underneath the Gulf of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. And, until now, it had been assumed that the asteroid acted alone.
The asteroid that killed the dinosaurs was not alone
The huge asteroid that hit Earth and wiped out the dinosaurs 66 million years ago was not alone, scientists have confirmed. A second, smaller space rock smashed into the sea off the coast of West Africa creating a large crater during the same era.
