I suspect at the end of the packing line somewhere in asia, boxes labeled flannel go to low end stores that sell to construction workers and boxes labeled chamois, go to high end stores.

Introduced in 1927 as the "Leatherette Shirt", a wind-resistant lightweight alternative to buckskin, renamed "Chamois Cloth" for the Spring 1933 catalog, in, I imagine, the original color, Tan. By 1960, another color had crept in - Bright Red. Status quo maintained.

I often use it as an over shirt during a cold Chicago Winter (or Spring) day. The flannel shirts are nicely made and my go to shirt when I want a warm short that I won't have to have laundered.

网页2007年8月21日 · Bill's Chamois Cloth, however seems to be a thinner material than what is used on regular Bill's Khakis (8.5-oz twill versus 6+oz twill). You are correct in your assumptions. I have Bills in both. The Chamois is a very soft thin fabric - good for summer, like a soft poplin. The moleskins are warm heavy pants.

The body is the traditional fit and I have no problem with that, and the length of the body is perfect. However, the sleeves were on the verge of being too short and I was afraid that with a dry they would look ridiculous.

网页2007年7月25日 · The 8.5 oz twills are nice, but my favorite khakis from Bill are his special weights. Poplin and Chamois cloth are both very comfy in the summer. The Bullard Field Pants (10.2 oz) might be my favorite pair. They wear like iron. I dont think I would be too keen about paying $100+ for the special edition cloths, or even $80 for the regular chinos.
